Foundation Awards over $16,000 in Scholarships to Students in 2014

On July 22, 2014, the Board of Education formally congratulated the student recipients of the sixteen scholarships managed or awarded by the Paulding Education Foundation. Funds for some of these scholarships are raised through the various fundraising efforts of the Paulding Education Foundation. Local businesses are encouraged to support the foundation and in turn, the students of Paulding county.

The Foundation awards a $1,000.00 scholarship to a graduating senior at each high school. The criteria for selection are based on grades, community involvement and contributions, and economic need.

Yee Aung of PCHS, RECIPIENT of the SHEFFIELD FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP 2014

This is a Scholarship Fund established by The Sheffield Family and is available only to students who attend Paulding County High School. This program seeks to encourage excellence and achievement in both academics and participation in community/club or organizations activities.

Samuel Venenga of EPHS, recipient of the JESSICA BOLES SCHOLARSHIP 2014

A $2,000.00 scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior at East Paulding High School in the memory of Jessica Boles by her parents, Bill and Cheryl Boles. The criteria for selection are based on academics, community involvement and contributions, and economic need.

Claude Delille of PCHS, recipient of the HUBERT AND BETTY MARTIN SCHOLARSHIP 2014

A $1,000.00 scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior at Paulding County High School. The criteria for selection are based on academics and participation in the community or with an organization.

Madison Tolman of PCHS, recipient of the WESLEY RAKESTRAW SCHOLARSHIP 2014

One $3,000.00 scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior with a 2.5 or higher GPA and being an active member in a civic organization or club.

A $1,000.00 scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior at each of the following schools; East Paulding, Paulding County, and Hiram High School who is majoring in math or science related field including but not limited to Architecture or Engineering.

A $1,000 scholarship awarded to a graduating senior at Paulding County High School.

Kirstie Lizano of PCHS, RECIPIENT OF THE BLUE DIAMOND ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIP 2014

A $500 scholarship awarded to a graduating student athlete.

Angel Weather of EPHS, RECIPIENT OF THE HANDS OF HYGIENE SCHOLARSHIP 2014

A $500 scholarship awarded to a student pursuing a career in health science.

Taylor Britt of SPMS, RECIPIENT OF THE SPHS CHEERLEADING SCHOLARSHIP 2014

A $500 scholarship awarded to a graduating cheerleader in the SPHS program.

The Logan's Crossing Manufactured Home Community Scholarship Fund was established by Dr. and Mrs. Ron Cobb, owners of Logan's Crossing Manufactured Home Community in Dallas. This program seeks to encourage excellence and achievement in both attendance and academics by students who live in this community.

The award levels are as follows: Elementary school: $50 to any resident student with perfect attendance for the entire school year; Middle school, $75 to any resident student with perfect attendance for the entire school year; High school, $100 for any resident student with perfect attendance for the entire school year; $100 for any resident student who graduates high school with a diploma or a GED, regardless of age; $250 for any resident student with a B average - qualifying for a hope scholarship - for the entire school year; College or technical school: $1,000 cash each year that a resident student is awarded a hope scholarship by the state of Georgia.
