Karen attended Converse College and Spartanburg Technical College and graduated with a degree in Radiologic Technology. Karen is retired after spending 40 years in Medical Imaging Education, as a Technologist, Radiology Manager, Medical Consultant, and as Applications Specialist Manager with a start up company in California that developed and obtained FDA approval for the first automated breast ultrasound system designed for breast cancer screening. She has traveled extensively throughout the US and Internationally training Physicians and Technologists, giving lectures and educating sales staff.
Karen has been a community advocate for Douglas County for many years and worked with her husband Herb on many radio projects for WSB Radio/TV. During their 36 years together they hosted many charity events until his unexpected death in 2014. While in Douglas County she served on the PET Board, was Chairman of the Ferst Readers Foundation, an early childhood literacy program, was a Board Member for Denim and Diamonds, Toys for Tots, Relay for Life. Karen moved to Paulding County 4 years ago and continues to work with Douglas County as well as Paulding County, offering scholarships to graduates in both counties in her husbands memory. She works with Operation Christmas and proudly serves on the Paulding Education Foundation Board.
